Panelist Bio: All About Dr. James Allen McGregor
James Allen McGregor, MD, CM, FACOG, is one of the top obstetricians and gynecologists in the nation. He is a recognized expert in the fields of reproductive health, gynecologic and perinatal infections, family planning, and maternal-fetal nutrition. Dr. McGregor has held various professorships in the obstetrics/gynecology departments at a number of prestigious universities, including the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine, the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He has in addition served as attending physician at the Denver Health Medical Center in Denver, Colorado, and as obstetrician/ perinatologist for the Tucson, Arizona, branch of Obstetrix, Inc, a national physician group practice comprising fetal-maternal
specialists.
Dr. McGregor’s special clinical and research interests include bacterial vaginosis, toxic shock syndrome, pelvic inflammatory disease, diabetes and pregnancy, preterm labor, the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, and omega-3 nutrition in pregnancy. He has written and lectured extensively on these and other topics, and his publications include over 40 book chapters and hundreds of articles. Dr. McGregor serves as a reviewer for many prominent journals pertinent to his field, including Fertility and Sterility and Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics and
Gynecology.
Dr. McGregor serves on the advisory board of the Los Angeles Best Babies Network. He has appeared on the Network’s behalf on the KJLH radio program “Women’s Health Forum,” where he discussed steps to a healthy pregnancy. In 2005, he presented and moderated a session devoted to diabetes and pregnancy at the Network co-sponsored conference “Building Bridges to Optimum
Health.”
