Panelist Bio: All About Dr. Iara M. Linhares
Iara M. Linhares, MD is a prominent specialist in gynecologic infectious diseases. She teaches in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of São Paulo Medical School in São Paulo, Brazil, and is attending physician in the Gynecology Service and in the AIDS Clinic at the University of São Paulo Medical School Hospital das Clinicas. She conducts research at the hospital and in collaboration with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Division of Immunology and Infectious Disease at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York City.
Dr. Linhares’ fields of clinical and research interest include sexually transmitted diseases/ AIDS and reproductive tract infections including vulvovaginitis, bacterial vaginosis, Candida, HPV, vaginal trichomoniasis, and Chlamydia. She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, edited several books on sexually transmitted diseases and women’s health, written many book chapters, and presented at conferences both in Brazil and abroad. She is frequently quoted in the Brazilian media on women’s health issues.
